The goal of Project Living Proof (PLP) is to restore a modest home at 917 Emanuel Cleaver Blvd in Kansas City, Missouri, to exhibit how to make a century-old home more energy efficient.
The home will be a demonstration of the
KCP&L Smart Grid which is a combination of onsite energy generation, advanced switches and capacitors, automated meter reading, and other smart technologies that allow for real-time monitoring and management of energy usage. The site's landscaping is a pilot project of the
Sustainable Sites Initiative, a voluntary set of guidelines and benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction, and maintenance practices.
The renovation process began this spring (May 2010) and tours of the site
will be offered this fall. Donations including materials and labor are moving
the project along. The Metropolitan Energy Center is grateful for donations from
